14 January, 2008
Supervisor Ringley called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.
Pledge of Allegiance.
Roll call present were, West, Galloway, Branam, Ringley Majewski. Also present
were, Zoning Admin. Lambert, Building Insp. Mantei, Fire Chief Majewski, Lakes
Director Carey, Planning Chair Bergey, Road Commission Engineer Stocking,
Sheriff Deputy Garchow, County Commissioner Lockmiller and 11 other interested
persons.
Minutes of the 10 December 2007 meeting accepted as read.
Minutes of the 07 January 2008 elections commission meeting accepted as read.
Treasurers report was accepted as presented.
Motion by Branam to pay the monthly bills, second by Galloway, roll call vote, 5
yeas, motion carried.
Majewski read correspondence from Dennis Zimmerman regarding the history of the
Zoning Ordinance as it pertains to buildings, such as sheds and tar paper shacks
that are not accessory to a main dwelling.
Stocking updated the board on the Enhancement Grant. It will most likely be 2010
before we will be able to apply. He has suggested that we add more ornamental
enhancements such as street lights and benches. West Park Street is ready to
pave as soon as the weather allows.
Chief Majewski read the fire dept. minutes. There were 11 rescue, 5 fire, 1
mutual aid and 1 power line related runs for December, 18 year to date.
Motion by Branam to adopt resolution number 011408-A, a resolution regarding the
downtown property purchase, second by Galloway, roll call vote, West abstains,
Galloway yes, Branam yes, Ringley yes, Majewski yes, resolution adopted.
Motion by Branam to approve a fire fund expenditure to increase the fire chief
and asst. fire chief wages by 22%, second by West, roll call vote, West yes,
Galloway no, Branam yes, Ringley no, Majewski yes, motion carried.
Ringley discussed the drain in the township hall maintenance room and the salt
spreader.
Motion by Branam to approve a general fund expenditure of $700.00 for the
purpose of purchasing a salt spreader for township maintenance, second by
Galloway, all in favor, motion carried.
Motion by Branam to approve the 2006/2007 financial statement, second by
Ringley, all in favor, motion carried.
Motion by West to extend the Bertha Lake Lots listing with Fairchild and Green
Realty, second by Galloway, all in favor, motion carried.
Motion by Ringley to approve a general fund expenditure of $450.00 plus mileage
for the Planning Chairman to attend the Master Planner workshop and for planning
members and ZBA members to attend one day workshops, second by Branam, all in
favor, motion carried.
Motion by Ringley to approve a general fund expenditure of $388.00 plus mileage
for 4 members of the BOR to attend training, second by Galloway, all in favor,
motion carried.
Motion by Ringley to approve reducing the Zoning Board of Appeals to 3 members,
second by West, all in favor, motion carried.
Motion by Branam to adjourn the meeting, second by Ringley, meeting adjourned at
8:40 p.m.

Work session
14 January, 2008
Supervisor Ringley called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.
Roll call present were, West, Galloway, Branam, Ringley and Majewski; also
present were Gary West and Dale Majewski.
Ringley read and discussed a resolution regarding the downtown property
purchase. The board reviewed the Certificate of Survey provided by Lapham and
Assoc.
Chief Majewski requested a salary increase and explained his justification for
an increase.
Ringley is investigating high speed internet so that the township would be able
to download and print our own assessment cards.
Ringley suggested that we consider moving the building inspection
responsibilities over to the county in the future to limit the townships
liability.
Ringley will talk to Martin Heinze regarding the drain in the township hall
maintenance room.
A salt spreader for the township maintenance truck was discussed.
The annual audit was reviewed.
Extending the Bertha Lake lots listing with Fairchild and Green Realty was
reviewed.
Ringley suggested that the number of Zoning Board of Appeals members be reduced
to 3.
The board reviewed the proposed revisions to the recreation plan.
Motion by Branam to adjourn the work session, second by West, work session
adjourned at 7:20 p.m.
